The Francis Francis Y1 machine brings together illy s iperEspresso capsule system with a simple, one-touch single serve espresso maker. You simply insert a capsule, press the button, and smooth, full-bodied espresso topped with long-lasting crema is exported right into your cup.
The Y1 s aluminum body, tempered glass cupholder and compact silhouette make this espresso maker a bit different. Unlike conventional one-stage systems, the iperEspresso method uses a two-stage process and because extraction takes place entirely inside the capsule, the coffee and machine never come in contact, making for easy clean up.
Illy IperEspresso System is a revolutionary new way to prepare true cafe-quality espresso at home, thanks to a ground-breaking two-phase extraction technology that creates an extraordinarily smooth, full-bodied and intensely aromatic coffee with long-lasting crema.
A Two-Phase Extraction
The secret lies in the innovative patented coffee capsule conceived, developed and produced by illy which encloses a complete extraction group that replaces the traditional process of percolation with a two-phase extraction. In the first phase, hyper-brewing, hot water under pressure creates optimal uniform conditions that enhance the extraction of coffee flavor and aroma and increase its richness and complexity. In the second phase, emulsification, coffee is forced through a special valve at the bottom of the capsule, mixing with air to produce a round, velvety, long-lasting crema.
